Do you have little kids?

(Sorry, this post is hugely off-topic for a web analytics weblog but some days a dad just has to be a dad …)

If you have little kids like I do and if you were born in the late 1960′s or early 1970′s you have to know about Baby Loves Disco.  My wife heard about this event from friends and we went to the Portland, Oregon event today.  The web site says it all but I have to tell you, when despite the “Disco” moniker, the DJ played a Ramones mix that started with “I Wanna Be Sedated” and the heads of roughly 500 moms and dads all started bopping to Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, and Marky, a huge smile spread on my face that didn’t leave until we were well on our way home.

No matter how young your kids, no matter how old you are, check out Baby Loves Disco when it comes to your town.  You won’t regret it.

I gather, Eric, we’re about the same age. Says he who sneaked into the 60′s by the skin of his teeth. :-)

Our very nearly 4yo and myself were bopping very extravagantly, air-guitar and all, to “What I Like About You”, by The Romantics, from memory, in the past week. Much to my wife’s amusement – and photo’s. Oooo. How embarrassing. :-)

I believe they do tour your side of the pond, but either way, The Wiggles are a *great* family event. I think parents enjoy it more than the kids.

I’d like to say it’s a childhood reversion, but I suspect it’s closer to having never grown up. :-)

    Cheers!

Steve and Michael: Most people who know me well know how into my kids I am. It’s so funny that my 15 month old son is such a little person. His new words are “waffle”, “turtle”, and “octopus” which is hilarious from such a little guy.

Belinda: Thanks for the 411. I’m sure you must have looked at this blog, scratched your head, and thought … oh well, big geeks have kids too!

    Eric,
Long time, no talk. I just stumbled across your website again and found this post. Glad you took the time to write off topic! I’ll have to check out the Baby Loves Disco with the family, looks like it would be a great time for the kids. Heck, it’s gotta be good if they played some Ramones! Gabba Gabba Hey… Drop me a line if you get a chance, it looks like you are back to consulting again and I would love to pick your brain on a current topic we have.
